Cartographica – GIS software for Mac

Yesterday I found out about Cartographica, a new GIS software product for the MacOS platform. Tried out the public beta and I’m quite impressed. This doesn’t seem to be a full-blown Arc-like system, so obviously it doesn’t offer the same featureset, but from what I’ve seen it certainly has potential. Plus, compared to my earlier tests of Grass, it simply works. One installation, doubleclick, enter keycode and off it goes.

I haven’t really looked at the export options yet, but obviously coming from a cartographic background that’s something I’m quite interested in.

So if you’re on a Mac and doing GIS, give it a try!
